Through dim lights
Through muddy ways
I have to get home

The lights flood them out

The world drowns it out
When the sky turns into ceiling
the stars turn into lamps
I let the dog ruin my shirt
She's happy to see me home tonight
And I won't let her in the house
I empty my pockets
Coins, cards, a hanky
And my phone -- just a watch
And I'll lay it atop a desk
Beside no family portrait
Undo my shoes, and my belt
I face the mirror
And frown at myself
